I always though Does He Love You and Portions For Foxes were both pretty compelling, lyrics-wise.

Coincidentally, tonight I watched the half set Rilo Kiley played last week on Austin City Limits -- it was an encore broadcast, recorded in 2005.

I was impressed with their style. The arrangements are very good, and I like Jenny's singing as well. What they're singing about doesn't seem to grab me, however. "I Never" is a great song. Dreamworld is good too, though the album version sounds an awful lot like Fleetwood Mac from their peak days.
