Man, I always pause when hearing stories such as this, not knowing what I would do if my wife or child went missing or what they might do if I did. My prayers for strength and hope certainly go out to Steve's family. I can only hope your classmate is found safe.

My river-conquering friend Dave one explained the concept of a siphon to me when he was trying to teach me how to roll back up in a kayak. Terrifying. I sure hope that didn't happen to poor Steve.
