I've been wondering all week how you guys have been doing with the smoke. I have relatives in the Pasadena area who've been blanketed for a week now. We've been lucky out here in the western valleys–the onshore flow has mostly kept the smoke far enough away, though the last couple days there's been an afternoon shift to an offshore flow and we've been getting a good haze and some ash. (Sorry for the Cali-centric weather-speak, everyone. The “flows” have to do with whether the weather patterns are blowing the wind away from the Pacific, or toward it. The “onshore flow” is the pattern that creates the phenomenon known as “June gloom” here in SoCal.)

Anyway, grab a surgical mask and carry on. I hear there are more of them available in the stores since somebody stopped needing them in late June.
