This is one of my many favorite albums from my college days as well. I was introduced to the album by an avid guitar player from Canada that lived on my floor freshman year and was in the Industrial Design program with me for the following 4 years. Jeff Beck showed amazing range and control of the guitar on this album and had such a varying flavor from Joe Satriani that you just had to gape. BTW, who is the 12 year old playing bass?

Happy 40, Scott! Hope it was a great birthday. Hip joints squeakin', one beer hangovers, gray hairs and wow, who knew you could actually get back fat (oh, maybe that is just a female thing)? Anyway, it is fantastic forty. The difference is all in the perspective. When you were flying around on your bike at 20 it was no big challenge. Now, when you're flying and you look around you're thinking yeah, I can still do this man, look at me, I am so in shape. I can still live in the moment man - at least til you hit a tree then maybe you want out of that moment :)...but back then you took it all for granted. You thought that was just the way it was and it would always be that way. Now, you try not to take anything for granted, you've seen some stuff and been down a few roads and you know it is glorious when you can still walk without pain, let alone fly on a bike or do one of the many marathons you've done. It is a whole new appreciation for what you had that you didn't even know you had. So, when you're in your forties and you can still pull off a few tricks you just enjoy that on a whole new level. So, keep ridin' Scott, keep flyin' - there is a nice wiew to be had. Happy Birthday!! Love, Kar

DUDE! Welcome to the LORDY, LORDY I AM FORTY CLUB! Beck can really work magic with those high squeals, and no matter how I throttle my guitar, I can't make it sound like that. Happy B-day- I believe it is on Sunday. I will be in BG on the 20th for the next football game- I will have our orange gang lift a beer to your 40 years!! Go Falcons!

squirrelly

Scott, your music choice and story certainly take me back to BGSU in the late 80's and Autumn in Ohio- Of course, this is coming from someone who saw you riding that bike in 1989. For another taste of Terry's amazing drumming I recommend this record's parallel universe companion-Polytown which features David Torn on guitar and the AMAZING Mick Karn (ex Japan) on bass. Guitar trio from space...

What a beautiful, well written story-and a great under-recognized record.
