Similar stuff happened to me, only it was an excursion to Pepperdine University from the valley with m y buddy Race, in the middle of the night to see his 6'3" volleyball girlfriend in her dorm. We hadda sneak in which was tuff. It was raining, and Foreigner's 'Juke Box Hero' was playin as we drove thru Las Virgenes pass to get there. No papers to write, but we hadda lotta fun sneakin into Pepperdine, n that song always reminds me of those good times. Thanks Scott . a good read n a good memory

Quite a story. Since I was repeating what Bob said, I figured it was okay to do this since I was dealing with dialogue. As for what I was actually doin(g), I don't think Bob was truly curious about whether I was fucking a melon or heating up some Dinty Moore Stew. He was feeling out if I wanted to go with him on his trip to the mall, to just hang out for a while.

As for the (many) "thoughtless, pointless words" you bring up, believe it or not, a lot of time and effort (i.e. thought) goes into these Basement Songs posts. It's not easy conveying the feelings the feelings I had 20 years ago and/or the reasons a particular song has special meaning to me (which is the point of the Basement Songs, anyway). However, from the response I receive from other readers, I believe I succeed most times in what I'm trying to do. Otherwise, I don't believe Jeff and Jason would have asked me to join the immensely talented (and loyal) group of writers who contribute to Popdose.

Was this my best work? Maybe not. But when you do a year's worth of these, some will be better than the others.

Anyway, thanks for your opinion. And thanks for comparing me to Peter Tosh! That man was a genius!

Hey Mike,

Being from the Midwest, many of us tend to drop the 'g' in of our sentences.
