I never bought into the early "Bruce-Mania" aside from "Born to Run". I didn't like "The River" and I was quick to pile on when everyone trashed "Nebraska". Even "Born in the USA" didn't seem genuine to me at the time. It was the two singles from this album, "Tunnel of Love" and "Brilliant Disguise" that finally resonated with me. In retrospect, this isn't one of my favorite Springsteen albums, but it's the one that started it all for me.
