This must have been awesome. My first concert was Billy Joel at the Nassau Coliseum on The Bridge tour, and I still have great memories of it.

Yup, they are recording it on DVD - I actually meant to mention that in the review, but forgot to.

I heard PA also got Bob Seger -- is that true?

It was a good show and I'm glad I got to see it. At first I was afraid because the PA sound, pre-show, was muted and bouncy and all kinds of bad. I also didn't know the projection screens were those odd, skyline shaped things at either side of the stage. So here I'm thinking that the sound would be crap and I'd have to squint at the band all night.

I have heard rumors that Henley and Mellencamp are not the guests for tonight's "final" show. In fact, the buzz is that it may well be Sir Paul and another piano-playing Brit, but again, those are just rumors. Yet nothing warmed my heart up more than Tony Bennett's stroll in during "New York State Of Mind" and, of course, "Goodnight Saigon" which is my favorite Joel song got the deluxe treatment...

Saw him last week in Hershey, PA, on what I presume was a warm-up gig for these Shea shows, and it was a lot of fun -- more fun than I thought it would be (my wife is definitely the bigger fan). He got in my top 3 -- "Miami 2017" (to start the show -- perfect), "Capt. Jack," and "Italian Restaurant," and even threw in "I've Loved These Days," which is another fave. And props to the guitar tech, Chainsaw, who got his Bon Scott on, fronting the band on "Highway to Hell." Somebody give that guy a record deal.

Sadly, the round mound of piano poundin' also played "River of Dreams" and "We Didn't Start the Fire," which I hate, hate, HATE. And yes, that was me in the 48th row, getting the Phillies score on my cell while everyone else around me shouted "Chubby Checker! Psycho! Belgians in the Congo!" Did I mention I fucking HATE that song?

But again, I did have a good time. 'Twas an entertaining show -- worth checking out on the DVD you just KNOW they're recording at Shea this week.

Rob
EightE1
