I'm not a prog rock fan at all, but I found this song really sad and touching when I first heard it. It's still affecting. I mean, who hasn't lost someone like in that song?<br><br>The note about no one showing up for the McGuffey Lane show is sort of prescient... two members of the band died in the 1980s, kind of like with Badfinger (although only one in this case was a suicide). I frickin' LOVE this song. :) It got a ton of airplay on Q93 in New Orleans when it was out. I love Mac's writing (if not his face, which might actually qualify him as the eighth dwarf...). His other hit, 1977's, "It's A Crazy World", really doesn't do anything for me, but he wrote "It's My Job" for Jimmy Buffett and a bunch of really great country songs, especially for Sawyer Brown, in the 1990s.<br><br>I'd love to share the mp3 with you as one small way of saying thanks for this wonderful blog!
