The guys in Exile didn't write any of their pop hits (Mike Chapman and Nicky Chinn did) but they were good songwriters in their own right. Dave & Sugar (a name if there ever was one) took "Stay With Me" from the same album into the country top ten in 1980. They also wrote "Take Me Down" for Alabama, and I think those hits made them decide to switch to country in the middle of the decade - a very smart move for them. His early 1980s stuff produced by Alan Tarney is all pretty good. I pretty much like anything Alan Tarney produced in that period - Leo Sayer's album "Living In A Fantasy" sounds similarly good. Randy Crawford (who I love and who never hit the Hot 100, dammit) did a version in 1981 that hit #11 in the UK. (At least they had the good sense to like her over there.) Turley must have recorded his version around the same time as Randy. Shola's version is nice - they're all pretty similar and it's just a good, solid song.<br><br>I hope I can get my hands on Turley's mp3...
