Just saw Toussaint on Austin City Limits. I'd had no idea about this guy. What a pro, and the musicians he's surrounded himself with — a very tight group. Toussaint can play blues piano as well as anyone I've ever seen.

Anyone who was not at this year's Jazz Fest missed a couple of outstanding moments: one was seeing the Preservation Hall Jazz Band get an encore in the Economy Hall Tent – and, second was seeing Allen Toussaint waalking the grounds, like a regular fest patron – but, stopping to talk and have pictures taken with anyone & everyone who wanted.- showing what a genuine, unaffected, real
person he is.

Nice review. Listening as we speak. I would add one more name to your NO Rushmore and that is the pianist Henry Butler. Who, like Allan, has talent in spades but also know when to let the funk out.
