Sounds right up my alley. A favorite Christmas tune of recent times has been Calexico's “Gift X-Change” which is equally ambivalent about the season.

There was an industry comp. put out by an Austin music house maybe a decade ago, featuring local artists (of whom Bob was one) and their takes on Christmas. Bob's contribution, titled, I think, just “Christmas,” is one of the most achingly beautiful and sad Christmas (or otherwise) songs I've ever heard. I'll zap it your way if you want.

It's important for some to be notified that this is Bob Schneider, not Robert Schneider from The Apples In Stereo. I'll listen to a Bob Schneider Christmas, but probably not a Robert Schneider one…
