Eine Platte, die so in dieser Form eigentlich nur Wilco aufnehmen können. Begonnen haben die Aufnahmen für die neue Platte schon im Oktober 2008, Wilco hatten sich ins bandeigene Studio “The Loft” in Chicago zurückgezogen. Dort entstanden alle Wilco-Platten der letzten 10 Jahre. Eigentlich wollten die Jungs die Aufnahmen zum neuen Album nur kurz unterbrechen, um schnell auf Tour mit Neil Young zu gehen. Man ging einheitlich davon aus direkt nach der Tournee wieder nach Chicago zurückzukehren, um dort die Aufnahmen fortzusetzen.
