From a brief look at the video, no one in the band has a mullet. I’m willing to give them points for that, and only that.(Asia)

Ken, you must understand that the mullett did not just come in 1980. In most parts of the country 1982 was still shedding it's 70's past, Yes, in most major metro areas, mens ears could be seen for the first time since about 1966, as after this period of time, hair grew over the ears. But for the rest of us and 70's holdovers like all members of Asia, we still had the helmet, feathered 1978 look going on.

Most 70's "rockers' did not adopt the mullett look until about 1986.(See 38 special, "This Night" video. They even wear Miami Vice Vice blazers with sleeves pushed up) Therefore you must take back the points given to Asia since they would not have adopted the awsome hairstyle just yet. Only the New Wavers would have had it. Besides they mention the word "Disco" in this song which I was even confused with since it was 82 and Disco was dead. Remember Blah blah blah in 82, The disco hotspots were a blah blah to you!!!

I should get a colim here and write about the development of 80's hairstyles.

Actually, in the fade out of "Sexual Healing" (which you can hear at full volume in the vocals only version on the double disc edition of Midnight Love), he sings "please don't procrastinate / it's not good to masturbate". That, to me, says that he was manipulative and/or superstitious.

Michael Bolton called the cops on my graduation party because the band (a bunch of my friends that my did had hired) played too loud. This was '86, right in his turn from the hair metal stuff he did into a white boy crooner. I still say, if he wasn't a pompous ass, he would have come over and sat in with the band. "Fool's Game" was a great song, and the band knew it. Can you imagine if he had come over, sang that song, and maybe fucked around with "Louie. Louie" or something for 10 minutes? Then said, "Everybody, keep it down."? He would have been (and still be) a God, no matter what bullshit he did in the 90's.

But no, he just called the cops.

You have to appreciate Asia for what it is - decent, melodic prog/arena rock. That's all. Otherwise it's way too easy to criticize.

I once bought a video at a yard sale called "Michael Bolton's Winning Softball." The first lines of the video were. "Hi, I'm Michael Bolton. You're probably asking yourself, 'What does Michael Bolton know about softball'?" He read my mind!

"Sanctified Pussy", which got remade into "Sanctified Lady" and released after his death, is actually a pretty decent song!!

I'm with Dunphy. "Sexual Healing" is great and all, but the What's Going On album gets more plays in my rotation than all his other work combined.
