Even the Wall Street Journal has picked up on the story about the terrible mix of “Death Magnetic”. It seems like they're getting more press over that than anything else related to their “comeback”.

I always liked Darius/Hootie, but I only got through about 45 seconds of that “Goodbye Girl” cover before I got nostalgic for David Gates. That's the sign of a bad cover; when you have to stop listening immediately and seek out the original to rinse the bad taste out of your mouth.

What a sorry collection of music to summarize today's “hits”. The T.I. song (and I use the term loosely) has to be the worst offender. Both the song and video contain every overused rap/hip hop cliche. It's worse than parody; it's tired, derivative and boring.

Great. You snarky fucks finally throw us a worthy band (Metallica) and proceed to shit all over them. Give Death Magnetic a few spins and I'm sure you'll hear that Hetfield sounds more like Hetfield than he has in years.

Next thing you know you'll go slagging the criminally underrated punk/metal outfit Therapy? and I'll be forced to go all Rush fan on ya and explain how insipid and insane you really are.

Wow, I'm kind of surprised at the snark-fest surrounding the new Metallica. I'm not even what you'd call a 'fan' and have only seen them live once (opening for the Stones), but even I can get behind 'Death Magnetic'. Then again, I never cared for much of their work post-'Justice' other than 'I Disappear' and some of the covers they did, like 'Whiskey in the Jar' and 'Die Die Die My Darling.'
