Try "Dear Science" from TV On The Radio. It's about as new as you could ask for.

I always say the worst albums of all time are "Nevermind" (Nirvana) and "The Chronic"(Dr. Dre), both 1992. Not so much that they are bad albums, but that everyone since then has tried to reproduce them. From watered down grunge to silly gangster rap, there hasn't been much good music since 1992.

Actually, you're thinking Ray Parker Jr. who was in Raydio... Ray, Goodman & Brown used to be with The Moments, but it's okay. I make that mistake all the time, especially when someone throws in McFadden and Whitehead.

I had a brief, dizzying love of Shawn Colvin around the time of Steady On, but I cannot take "Sunny" seriously at all. Not a bad song, but coming so quickly on the heels of "Mary Jane's Last Dance" -- and practically stealing the damn guitar pattern -- it bugged me no end.

Especially since Petty stole "Mary Jane" from The Jayhawks' "Waiting For The Sun" just a half-year earlier.

I know there is little original in rock, but c'mon now.

I go to an annual horseshoes tourney party the day after thanksgiving (yeah, you read that right, sometimes we shovel out the pits because it's snowed) and they play Rolling Stones all day, exclusively. This party is populated with mostly dudes in their 40s in flannel shirts, salt of the earth types.

When something from Steel Wheels comes on, half they guys piss and moan and say "The rule is we only play Rolling Stones, what's this crap?" And it gets funnier when you realize they're not joking, they honestly have no idea what it is.
