After seeing all three movies again on the big screen two years ago I now think "Temple of Doom" is better than it used to be and "Last Crusade" is worse, but the latter is still a little better than the former. You have to give "Temple" credit for getting rid of all the other characters from "Raiders" besides Indy and then making the tone as dark as the PG rating would allow. Then again, it was too dark for the PG rating, which is why the PG-13 rating came to be. Good to know, Hagen. After seeing all three movies again on the big screen two years ago I now think “Temple of Doom” is better than it used to be and “Last Crusade” is worse, but the latter is still a little better than the former. You have to give “Temple” credit for getting rid of all the other characters from “Raiders” besides Indy and then making the tone as dark as the PG rating would allow. Then again, it was too dark for the PG rating, which is why the PG-13 rating came to be.

I had zero expectations going in, and I was ebullient by the end of it. It is a rare thing these days: a movie that doesn't feel the primal urge to cold-cock the audience with digital effects so you don't notice the plot is lame. Sure, the list of digital effects artists is as long as the list of Microsoft's crimes against humanity, but not once did I look at the movie and think, "Oh, that is so green screen." The effects work, the cinematography works, and most importantly, the plot works. And Harrison Ford's welcome return to the hat and whip almost made me forget about Air Force One... but not quite.<br><br>Enjoy the movie. It's not hard to do. I thought they did a great job closing out the series and redeeming themselves for "The Temple of Doom." However, when I read about the the new Indy film, my first quip to co-workers was the following: "Fill in the blank..."Indiana Jones and the ( )." Well, you can imagine the old people jokes started flying. There was "The Dentures of Death," "The Quest for the Lost Clapper," and "The All-You-Can-Eat Senior Buffet." <br><br>I wasn't wetting myself either with news of this film, but I will be plunking down quite a few dollars when I take my family to see it this weekend!
