Even in dreams, I am a wimp.

I like a good cover band on a night out in a bar, with friends; or, better yet, an acoustic act, like Jason's 80s thing. Somewhere around the third pitcher, when your best friend thinks it a good idea to order another two dozen thermonuclear wings, I kinda dig hearing the pharmacist who's played guitar for 30 years lean into "Tequila Sunrise" or "Come Monday," or -- the best, the absolute BEST -- Gordon Lightfoot's "Sundown." It's part of the decor, like the neon Corona sign or the burners keeping the stromboli warm on the buffet line. The pharmacist knows he'll never play Giant Stadium, or ride in a tour bus, or shag a groupie (except for his wife, who's probably not even there). There's something very cool about that, to me. Most of us have had to downsize our dreams in one way or another.

Rob
EightE1

My experiences with karaoke have been as a spectator and not a participant, though I did have a nightmare once in which I was onstage on karaoke night singing Pablo Cruise's “Cool Love.” I woke up before my dream-self attempted that high note going into the second chorus.
