Truly a great film. One of my favorites actually. I remember seeing it with my parents when I was fairly young (early teens) and being surprised at how well I "understood" the film, but did not understand the controversy. Great post Zack.

And it wouldn't be until 1994 that Graeme Revell "borrowed"(cough, cough!) some of Gabriel's motifs for his soundtrack to "The Crow"...

The whole song is embedded in the top part of the post. Along with "Bread and Wine" the pair packs a terrific one-two punch.

My favorite track on this album is "It Is Accomplished". You can hear the beginning of it at the end of the DailyMotion video.

What I've always found interesting about it is the way the piano plays the same four--note motif over and over, while the drums, free of having to provide rhythm, are all over the place. Kind of an exchange of those instruments' traditional roles.

I wasn't surprised by the horrified reaction to Last Temptation, but it was a disappointment nonetheless. I thought it was a hugely reverent film, and very moving.

There's something so self-defeating about trying to put limits around our concept of God—particularly around Jesus; fully human and fully divine, encompassing everything—there's nothing in our experience, nothing we can imagine, that could possibly be alien to Him.
