A major character kicks the bucket, and Order of the Phoenix director David Yates clearly instructed cinematographer Bruno Delbonnel (Amélie) to shoot the movie through a windshield thick with dead bugs. It’s hard to make out much through the murk, though if we could Yates would probably withhold it. A potentially breathtaking seascape that Harry and Dumbledore visit is on and off in the blink of an eye, and the action scenes, including the admittedly wild, and hope-raising, opener, are too brief…except for that damned Quidditch match, a game that hasn’t changed much since 2001 and the first movie. I love the Harry Potter films, however i was very disappointed with the 6th instalment. I thought it lacked action and had a terrible plot. It was certainly watchable but was nothing compared to the other films. Although the film was very funny it was clear the humour was put in to hide the fact there was no plot. After waiting two and a half hours for some action we got about 5 minutes which ended with Dumbledore croaking it and Draco Malfoy crying like a baby took up about two of those five minutes. Then the film ended and i left the cinema wondering why the hell I went to see the film in the first place. The worst Harry Potter yet. My advise wait for it to come out on DVD.

I totally agree that this is actually one of the greatest films of '09 thus far. Now, whether that's simply because of the execution on the part of the filmmakers and cast, or because there've been such slim pickings before now can be up for debate. In my own opinion though, HPatHBP hits the perfect trifecta of storytelling, direction and acting to make for a great summer movie.
