Here’s your first taste of the new Paul Thomas Anderson film, The Master, the writer-director’s first project since 2007′s Oscar-winning There Will Be Blood. It stars Joaquin Phoenix, in his first film since the bizarre pseudo-documentary I’m Still Here, as well as Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amy Adams, and Laura Dern. The Master is scheduled to be released in the U.S. on October 12.

If reports about this film’s content are true, I’m amazed that this even got made. This could either put the screws to the CoS in a way that nothing else has been able to, or be a career-killer for everyone involved. Either way, there’s a strong dose of sunshine headed for some events and persons who have been shrouded in darkness for way too long.
The trailer doesn’t really give me much of an idea what to expect, but it looks a lot more entertaining than BATTLEFIELD EARTH, at least. Advantage: Anderson.
