Excellent interview. I write for 99x radio in Atlanta (Retro beach) and I too was a fan of Blue Mercedes' “I want to be your property” which was huge here on local radio. I've often wondered what became of BM and now you've answered that pondering question…. Great questions by the way…. I was hoping you'd ask about the shorts!

Wow! Thanks for the Blue Mercedes story.. I always wondered whatever happened to them after “Rich & Famous”… I originally purchased the CD when it was released, and it lasted right up until the Northridge Earthquake of 1994… after that I spent years trying to find another copy of it…which was a much harder task than I thought it would be… but, alas I did find it. To this day it's still one of my favorite CDs of the 80s. You're right on the money with your comments about the release… I certainly wish there were a few more releases by the duo as Blue Mercedes to follow up this one.

Nice post. Even though I'd never heard of these guys before, it was interesting to read their story, and to be introduced to some pretty-good new music. (Well, new to me…) “Crunchy Love Affaire” in particular will certainly find its way onto my iPod….

Thank you for writing this…I can't say I've ever discussed Blue Mercedes with anybody, although I recently found the 12″ single for “Property” not too long ago. It's kind of unfair that similar sounding acts get the fame (e.g., Curiosity Killed the Cat, Johnny Hates Jazz), as brief as it is, but such is pop music.

Just wanted to say thanks for writing this piece, and thanks to Blue Mercedes for making this album. I, for one, loved every bit of it – and still do. Great hooks and some of the best snarky lyrics outside of the Pet Shop Boys. I've put “Crunchy Love Affaire” on more mix tapes than I can count!
