Couldn't agree more on Terence Blanchard. Another young man to watch is Alfredo Rodriguez, a brilliant pianist who defected from Cuba last year. His mentor is none other than Quincy Jones. I saw the young man perform at SXSW earlier this year, and he is just astonishing.

I got a copy too late for inclusion on my list, but the latest EP from Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey (One Day in Brooklyn) is phenomenal and will probably end up on my year-end Best Of.
