I remember absolutely loving The Robin Thompson Band as a middle school student in Blacksburg, VA. I have been looking for Candy Apple Red for about 15 years. I have asked several friends and others I grew up with around SW VA to no avail. They all remembered the song, but never could remember who did it.

Now, thanks to a late night web search, I find this gem of an article and I am transported back to the early, wonderful days of K92 ... and I found an MP3 of Candy Apple Red to prove to all of my friends who did not grow up in SW VA in the 80s that not only did the song exist, but it was (and is) awesome. What is also really cool ... I could sing along with the song and I probably haven't heard it in over 25 years.

I must thank you for this article. I haven't heard Bart's name since I was in Roanoke during the Christmas season of 1984.David Lee and I would work together at what was WNKS in Columbus Georgia. It was billed as "America's First New Station of 1985" !!

I fondly remember the organized chaos that was K-92 and it's ultra cool owner, Alyett Coleman, a true Southern gentleman if ever there was one. I credit David Lee and then General Manager, Russ Brown for teaching me the "good guys wear Black" philosophy of radio and it's served me well ever since !!

OH MY GAWD !!!
