KBCO Studio C: Volume 6

It has been pointed out to me — just in time for today’s Vol. 6 post — that the KBCO Studio C series benefits the Boulder County AIDS Project, and that it might behoove all of you downloading and burning types to consider some sort of donation to the BCAP in exchange for all this great music.

(Actually, it’s sort of been demanded, to the tune of $10 per CD, but that’s just silly. Your downloading this music doesn’t rob KBCO or BCAP of potential income. The discs are out of print, after all.)

I’ve included a link above, but just for good measure, here it is again. Volume 7 next week. Enjoy!

    A friend and I have been making copies of Studio C CDs for years, and we always make a donation to the BCAP for each one–or ask the recipient to do so. I’m wondering exactly who is “demanding” the donation, as we’ve been doing it on our own. It just seems the right thing to do. (We do both stand in line to buy them legally, but they limit sales to two discs per person, so we pretty much have to make copies to get to everyone who wants one.)

    These are reposts from the old Jefitoblog, and that’s where the comment in question was left…or e-mail, whatever it was. This was over four years ago, so I don’t remember the details anymore.

    kmbone..how much do you get for the cd’s and do you still do that

    I usually ask the recipient to donate between $5 and $10 for each CD, or whatever they can spare. I asked the KBCO people this year how much goes to the charities and they said about $10 from each CD, which is pretty good for a CD that sells for $12.

    For the past few years, the donations have been split between BCAP and Food Bank of the Rockies (www.foodbankrockies.org).

    I have 4-6 and 13-22 [22 is from this year, 2010] as original CDs, but the rest of them I’ve had to piece together from various downloads, so you may be better off waiting for Jeff to post links.
