The music on the album is great but I find that the lyrics leave a lot to be desired. There are no classics here from a lyrical standpoint.

I was wary when I saw the duets listed too, but Thierry is exactly right, you barely notice the two guys, and the Corinne Bailey Rae isn't half bad, though I think she's a little pitchy. It is certainly not one of those duet albums like Santana or Sinatra did.

I wouldn't worry about the “duets” – only Corinne Bailey Rae is really noticeable, and the song works. I listened to this half a dozen times yesterday, and each time it took a bit more of my breath away – it's like they found a time machine and brought back a 1972 Al Green album that'd gone missing. It's that good.

Sounds like a winner. Just tell me this – how much influence do the new voices have on the record? I don't mind when guests follow the lead but I've come to detest these recordings where many Feat. ruin what everyone came for – i/e latter Santana albums and those horrendous remixes on Thriller Anniversary Edition.

You can't go wrong with Reverend Al, The Ladies' Pal. Looking *very much* forward to this album. Nice write-up.
