I read an interview with Cave recently, and he listed 5 of the things he was currently listening to, and I was astounded because they sum up the Dig Lazarus Dig!!! sound almost exactly. The ones I remember were Raw Power by the Stooges, On the Corner by Miles Davis and Maggot Brain by Funkadelic. Then I think there was a Van Morrison album too. I have to admit that this is probably my favourite Bad Seeds album, and I think the fact that Raw Power, On the Corner and Maggot Brain are some of my favourite records of all time must have something to do with that. I'm not a big Doors fan, but I suppose I do hear them in there somewhere too.

This isn't the first Doors comparison I've seen in reference to the new Cave disc, but I dunno, I just think that Nick Cave is far more interesting a person and a songwriter than Jim Morrison.
