I listened to the two songs you included and previewed a couple others on Amazon, and the songs were so unremarkable I kept thinking: "Why am I bothering with this?" Then I realized that I could add these songs to my collection of "Stars Who Sing" and include one of them in a future Mix Six. :-) If you didn't know it was Scarlett Johansson singing, what would you think of this CD? I listened to the two songs you included and previewed a couple others on Amazon, and the songs were so unremarkable I kept thinking: “Why am I bothering with this?” Then I realized that I could add these songs to my collection of “Stars Who Sing” and include one of them in a future Mix Six. :-)

But I think the association ended up harming her. I'm sure Sitek and crew could have come up with some meaty, unorthodox tunes all on their own that would have worked with ScarJo and not against. She's very pretty, a decent actress and she's not even the worst singer out there, but this just doesn't work. It's a gutsy move to zero in on Tom Waits songs, but her vocal style lacks the style and substance to do justice to the music, much less offer any kind of interesting angle. <br><br>It's not awful; if anything it's flat-out boring.
