I've been a huge fan of all of Tom's work and the Nightwatchman work is something that has a strong message (as all of his work does) and came across strong through his set at the Harbor stage. Again, there were time you could hear a pin drop. It's tough to cover the entire weekend of artists so I guess you have to let something drop off, right?

I actually met Josh Ritter not too long after his set and he was rushing off to something else and took the time to entertain me by listening to my story of how I came to know his music (the festival performance was the first time I've ever heard him) and was gracious enough to be attentive, and sign my pass and pose for a picture! Talk about appreciative and gracious, this guy made ME feel like I was the star and was completely humble and could not believe someone actually approached him in this way. A great, GREAT guy who has a wonderful career in front of him. That cat is the real deal!

All in all, this is a wonderful account of the entire weekend and for me, seeing such LEGENDS (that word again!) like Judy and Joan and Pete and Arlo and for me, Mavis, stirred something in me and I realized with wonder, just who these people are who I am seeing live on stage for the first time. Especially when you look at history and what is going on in the country today and realizing that these same messages that were being heard by those at Woodstock and many other past Newport festivals, still resonate today. I mean, seeing Pete Seeger on stage and Judy Collins! Amazing!

It's too bad you missed Tom Morello, the Nightwatchman.
