Egads! That CD is a mess – I love how they're all extended versions for the most part, but the Stone Roses' “Fool's Gold” is an EDIT of the album version!

The 12″ version made it onto the CD “Classic Alternatives Vol 3″.

Egads! I never knew it was touched by the hands of SAW. I like it even better.

Sort of an odd band for SAW to work with, although they were also working with Brilliant around the same time, no? maybe they were looking to start a goth-dance fad…

What I want to know about is this claim in the S/A/W Wikipedia entry:

"In 1988-89, the trio recorded three tracks with Judas Priest. These tracks were never released, and are said to be in Judas Priest's possession."

I feel like I should go on a quest to find out more about this collaboration.

It's not a S/A/W rip…it's a S/A/W track! They produced it!

I think it's much more commercial than say, “Heaven Is Waiting” or any of the older stuff, but your mileage may vary. Society was actually just the singer minus any other Danse members. Love your point about jumping yet another dance train!

Hmmm…I never heard this as a SAW rip–Danse Society were always one of the dansier (heh) goth bands; I don't think this departs too radically from their earlier sound…

That said, the story doesn't end here! 'Round 1987, they changed their name to Society and recorded a single produced (or remixed, I forget) by Coldcut to jump on the “Pump up the Volume” bandwagon.
