Ah yes, I still remember the disappointment after taking the shrink wrap off Omnipop. Martinis & Bikinis was almost perfect, but I still prefer The Indescribable Wow, which is indeed perfection.

I remember having Cruel Inventions on heavy rotation in our CD player for quite awhile. Excellent album. Also really liked Martinis and Bikinis, but haven't listened to much of her more recent stuff.

1991's Cruel Inventions is still one of my top 5 albums, and is a perfect companion to Martinis & Bikinis. Her recent albums for Nonesuch have all been of a consistently high quality too. Phillips is yet another artist who should've been considerably more popular due to her lasting talent and ability. And listening to her records also introduced me to T-Bone Burnett's solo work – bonus!
