I'll admit to listening to BSG season 2 more than the other seasons. And Caprica has only recently gotten more spins on my iPod.

Really? Which soundtracks by Armstrong are you talking about? I agree that Human Target's main theme isn't all that original, but I included it to demonstrate that McCreary's style isn't confined to taiko drumming, for example.

Not that this would take away his work or accomplishments, but the first 2 tracks seem derivative of Craig Armstrong.

My favorites are BSG seasons 2 & 4 and Caprica. He does superb string composing.

There was something so novel about his work on BSG that I don't think the series would have been half as good if they had gone the traditional route with the music.

Great article, but I'm surprised you didn't highlight his version of “All Around the Watchtower”, which was really the pinnacle of his work on BSG, IMO. The way that tune was woven into the lead-up to the Cylon reveal was pretty brilliant.

Great choice. McCreary's was a real asset on BSG and distinguishes CAPRICA.
