Sorry NYP, but that doesn't fly with me. Train wrecks = lazy programming. However, if you're doing a countdown show, then there's no point in trying to mix a set -- especially if you're featuring 885 songs that were chosen by listeners. XPN is a great station, so the songs they feature are going to be good to great. In short, XPN is the exception.

"Live for train wrecks?" Do you really want to live for Billy Idol "White Wedding" into James Blunt "You're Beautiful?"

Zack: that Men Without Hats song surprised me as well. I was doing a lot of mobile DJ stuff when the single came out, and for some reason, people wanted to hear it.

Malchus: Thanks so much for the high praise. Loved Jim Ladd's book on FM radio (see link below), and back in the day, he had quite the ear for mixing songs that made for great radio.

http://www.amazon.com/Radio-Waves-Life-Revoluti...

". . .don't mix well . . ." Huh??? Dude, some of us LIVE for those train wrecks. Best time ev-ah: WXPN's 885 All Time Greatest Albums Countdown. That was some great radio! Listeners voted for the top 10 Albums of all time. XPN played the top 885 votegetters. By the time the countdown got into the 140s, xpn was playing 3 cuts from each album and the train wrecks were epic.
Exhibit A: Indigo Girls - Indigo Girls >>> Talking Heads - Remain in Light >>> The Moody Blues - Days of Future Passed >>> AC/DC - Back in Black >>> Miles Davis - Bitches Brew >>> Neil Young & Crazy Horse - Rust Never Sleeps.

Good times. We love train wrecks! It's all about the music.

Dude, awesome set. I love what you're doing here. That is, expanding on what you created at the old Py site and making it fresh. This is great stuff. Jim Ladd should be made aware. I can't wait for future mixes.

And don't forget Beau, Pop Musik has the odd lyric "Boogie with a suitcase."

And Will...Sorry but I had never heard of The Chills until you brought them up. I did, however, check out the video for their song. I had to shut my eyes because the video was a boring mess that took away from the pop goodness of the song. See what I mean?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ite_aYNLZus
