Honestly, they tried. "Johnny Got His Gun" failed because of impromptu boobies. I also recall a scene where Johnny in the bodycast gets "massaged" by a sympathetic teacher. The class quote: "She's yankin' his crank!"<br><br>"1984" fared just as poorly, specifically with Winston's secret rendezvous with "a dirty girl" and there's a tight close-up of bugs crawling through her nether-forest. Better than the film to an exponential degree, it depicts the creation of the "teenager" as a sociological (and marketing) concept as well as anything ever written on the subject. It is a UK equivalent to "Rebel Without a Cause," except infinitely more hoppin'.
