I was complaining yesterday on Twitter that 2012 had yet to yield that one record that I can’t stop listening to. I’m not sure if the new Silversun Pickups’ record, Neck of the Woods, is going to scratch that particular itch, but juding by the leadoff single, “Bloody Mary (Nerve Endings),” it might just do the trick.

It’s been nearly three years since the band released its breakthrough, Swoon, and in that time a whole slew of shoegazing alterna-pop bands have taken up the gloomy torch. Lead Pickup, Brian Aubert, told Spin magazine that the songs Neck of the Woods on sound “like a horror movie.”

Give “Bloody Mary (Nerve Endings)” a listen, and if you dig what you are hearing you can pre-order Neck of the Woods here.
