New Trailer: “Prometheus”

People are still arguing, I guess, over whether Prometheus is actually an Alien prequel, but after watching this trailer, I’m not sure I care anymore — prequel or no, it looks pretty goddamn awesome. Don’t you agree?

    Man, that’s how you cut a trailer. Slow, majestic open, ramping up the intensity and the speed as things get out of control.

    And the heroine-slash-Final Girl still lurches around the ship in her underwear for no good reason. Good to know that, however much the ALIEN franchise may evolve, some things never change.

     And that’s how you make a prequel (yes, it’s a prequel, if prequel has any meaning at all): Don’t just tell an “origin story,” but tell a story that the audience didn’t even know that it wanted to see that just happens to dovetail into the original story.

     Exactly, and don’t just retell a story and pretend it’s something different (cough The Thing sneeze).
