My favorite album of the 2011, by a landslide, was only recently released in the United States. I ordered it last May from Amazon.co.uk and it was worth every pound.

Alabama natives, the Pierces (sisters Catherine and Allison) recently returned from a successful residency in England that saw their fourth album You & I debut high on the charts. Produced by Guy Berryman of Coldplay, You & I delivers the sisters’ trademark angelic harmonies and inventive lyrics on a silver platter of monster hooks, stadium-size choruses and crisp instrumentation.

A well-received English club tour led to performances at Glastonbury and the iTunes Festival before culminating in a sold-out headlining victory lap around the UK’s larger venues. Full band in tow, the Pierces are back in America, opening for select dates with Coldplay and headlining clubs like the legendary Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles.

This week, they absolutely crushed their hit “You’ll Be Mine” on The Late Show with David Letterman. If you’re new to the Pierces. this performance provides the perfect introduction to this breathtakingly beautiful and dazzling duo:

You & I and its B-side rich companion EPs You’ll Be Mine and Love You More are on sale at Amazon.
