Most of the studios have decided that even the lousiest story idea is worth the time and cost if it gets shoved through the computer. Traditional forms like cel animation and stop-motion got the shaft on a bum rap. It's not how it's animated - it's what gets animated that makes all the difference.

Second, from the moment Gaiman's book first came out, I've been giving copies to my nieces and any other opportunity a child's gift was required. The book has been my reason to entice kids to reading for fun, and by and large, it has worked. I would have hated that its legacy would be capped by a crap movie forced into the "family entertainment" meat grinder.

I'm so glad you enjoyed Coraline.
