Still have that album on vinyl; seriously doubt if it will EVER be re-released (especially with Vanity/Denise Matthews' religious epiphany); Mechanical Emotion was actually a pretty good track and IIRC it was the second (although non-charting) single and had a pretty provocative picture sleeve.

I was a year ahead of Michael Tapper (the drummer for We Are Scientists) at Harvey Mudd College so I can confirm that he is, in fact, a scientist. Hell of a nice guy, too. I don't think he's with the band anymore, though.

I just recently finished reading Nikki Sixx's The Heroin Diaries and Vanity just looks so silly in that book. All she'll ever say about this period now is that it was a mistake and Jesus this and Jesus that. I mean, every single statement rolls around to something Jesus-oriented. Okay, so you were saved – I can respect that – but she's totally over the top and completely crazy about this.

I can't deal with “Boy in the Box” – the lyrics in the chorus are just plain dumb. I hate Corey Hart with a passion.

Anyway, great post – again.

I would like to know what the cat thought about the Vanity record (which, coincidentally, I just found on cassette last Wednesday for $1.99. I looked at the song titles and was like “how did she get away with using the words 'strap-on' in a song title in 1984???”.

I wonder if she remembers the words to this now that she's been saved.
