This song is indeed a kick in the ass, but not unlike the equally groovy material produced almost simultaneously by Bran Van3000 (discosis) and Self (Breakfast with Girls).

I found it interesting at the time that the most "Scritti" moment happens at the very end of the album, during the reggae-breakdown code of "Brushed with Oil, Dusted with Powder." It was almost like Green telling, "Hey, thanks for putting up with all that for the last hour - now here's what you came for."

I was totally blown away by this release when it came out. Bought it before I had heard a note. Rap and Scritti Politti? What had Green been doing the last decade in his studio? This was like the indie "Chinese Democracy" (okay, not really, but how could I resist saying something so pretentious??).<br><br>"Mystic Handyman," "Here Come July," "First Goodbye." Green really let the guitars loose on this. A real rocking Scritti Politti, spackled together with some hip-hop!
