I don't know about his being a "pop culture" expert. I know he was fired from being a store manager at 'Sam Goodys' in Bethesda, MD for for "loss prevention" ( in other words, stealing) and was the subject of many complaints from his subordinates for making sexual bizarre comments that I won't even go into. The guy is an A-1 headcase who babbled on about Paul Westerberg non stop, no matter what other people were talking about!

A bit late here, but I finally had a chance to listen to this podcast - it was great fun listening to the three of you. The bickering, the occasional defensiveness but most of all your admirable honesty. And I enjoyed hearing you talk about Billy Joel's status among Long Islanders. My mom's aunt married an Italian-American and they lived next door to Joel during his childhood years. Whenever she came to visit us back in Norway, she used to go on about how she remembered little Billy running around the street and how amazing it was that he'd become such a huge star. She always brought a copy of his latest cassette and I, too, played "Scenes from An Italian Restaurant" to bits back in the late '70s. I didn't get the lyrical references like you did, but I loved the build-up and the drama of the song and I have very fond memories of early Joel to this day.

And how can anyone consider "New York State of Mind" a guilty pleasure?? That's just a classy piece of pop music - I've never felt guilty about liking that one.

Perhaps the review can coincide with the inevitable release of Into The Night '08 remixed by Kayne West.

Jeff started it. I didn't say a goddamn word about him loving that stupid "Niagara Falls" song by Chicago, and then he rips into me about Richard Marx. Should've known better.

(get it?)

Thanks for remembering, Joe! The post hasn't been written yet for a few reasons: Jeff and I are still trying to put our complex emotions about this thing into words, and also, I don't think it's available for people to see or purchase yet, and I want to make sure that we can give readers an example of what we sat through.

When we get it out, though, I think it'll be worth the wait.

Looking forward to listening to this. Say Jason, I seem to remember a long time ago you promised a review of that Benny Mardones documentary. Did I miss it or can we still look forward to it?

I'm still trying to recover from the "it got me tail" revalation. I'm hoping that was in reference to a barn yard. Otherwise I will have to poke my eyes out.
