It’s probably a safe assumption that the majority of today’s songstresses have never set foot inside a law school, much less graduated from one with honors. Lily Lambert has, and she uses her informed opinions to shape her catchy, radio-ready melodies that reference celebrity culture and finding a higher purpose within oneself. As she says, ”The modern world is much harsher than it used to be, so the new songs are a reflection on our culture and living your life the best you can.”

A New York resident (via her native England), Lambert’s sophomore effort, So Far, marries frank, punctuated lyrics with a folk-rock influence that’s still decidedly pop. Highly listenable, and assuredly memorable, she holds a mirror up to society and dares it to look back, but does it in such a way that, if she asks nicely, it can’t resist.

Now, in a Popdose exclusive premiere, take a listen to So Far‘s opening track, “Pop Culture (Who Cares)” below!
