Popdose is pleased to premiere the track stream of “Candy Says,” (from The Velvet Underground’s eponymous third album), performed by songstress Lisa Said.  The gross proceeds from subsequent download sales will be split between two Washington D.C. based charities: Washington Area Women’s Foundation (https://thewomensfoundation.org and Casa Ruby http://www.casaruby.org) “Candy Says” was recorded during sessions for her second full length recorded at D.C.’s famed Inner Ear Studios, engineered by studio owner Don Zientara.

About the recording of this song, Ms. Said states, “This song always resonated with me—even though I know it’s about Candy Darling, it feels more universal for women in general; at least for this woman.  While recording new songs at Inner Ear Studio this winter, I had time to sneak this song into a session and, luckily, guitar player and friend Derrick Baranowsky stopped by to help me record it.”

Fortunately for us, it worked out!  Please have a listen to this very heart-warming rendition of “Candy Says”.  And in the meantime, pick up a copy of her debut album, No Turn Left Behind.
