While Philly may be known more for its soul than any other genre of music, the latest output from the City of Brotherly Love shows the tides are definitely turning. Case in point: the Magnificent Birds of Prey. This alt-punk outfit prides itself on a rebellious spirit and touts their music as the antidote to “the corporate grind.” Down with the man! Featuring underpinnings of jam band deliciousness, their sound channels early Talking Heads, Television, even a bit of Velvet Underground all rolled into one tidy little package.

Today, we’re proud to premiere “Can’t Wash My Soul” from the MBoP’s upcoming album, Kaleidoscope, out August 18. Its revelrous, glass-clinking melody is the perfect accompaniment to a weekend out of the office and into your favorite bottle. It is summer, after all!
