Pulling Rank is a weekly column in which Kelly Stitzel ranks a variety of pop culture-related things with little to no commentary, but sometimes with audio or visual accompaniment. There’s no scientific method to the rankings; these are just Kelly’s opinions. You’ll probably disagree with her — just don’t be a dick about it.

Diane Lane is one of my favorite actresses of all time and she has appeared in so many films I adore. I’ve been watching a lot of her movies lately, so I thought I’d rank my 10 favorite of her film roles.

1. Corrine “Third Degree” Burns, Ladies and Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains (1982)

2. Pearl Kantrowitz, A Walk on the Moon (1999)

3. Cherry Valance, The Outsiders (1983)

4. Connie Sumner, Unfaithful (2002)

5. Lauren King, A Little Romance (1979)

6. Patty, Rumble Fish (1983)

7. Beth Warden, Indian Summer (1993)

8. Pat Loud, Cinema Verite (2011)

9. Lorena Wood, Lonesome Dove (1989)

10. Ellen Aim, Streets of Fire (1984)

About the Author

Kelly Stitzel

After shutting down her own blog, Looking at Them, in mid-2008, Kelly migrated over to Popdose, bringing with her Soundtrack Saturday, the most popular column from her old site. Kelly makes a living as a fashion and marketing copywriter, which takes up a lot of her time. However, when she is able to write about things that have nothing to do with her day job, she contributes reviews and musings on music, film and a variety of other topics. In addition to Soundtrack Saturday, columns she's written include Filminism and Pulling Rank.
