A beautiful and stirring rendition of The Velvet Underground (and Nico)’s classic, as offered up by Richard Barone. One of the few artists I know of who can take a cover version of a song and make it his own, this rich yet tender single is a fitting tribute to Lou Reed, who left us towards the end of 2013. While Nico’s original reading was haunting, Richard Barone’s delivery is one of perspective and embrace; the emotions in this song resonate clearly and the production by Chris Seefried works perfectly.
