Argh! I have searched hi and low for the song "Jail/Port Authority by Day" by Thomas Newman and when I find it on your blog, the link is broken. Saddened. I have asked iTunes to add the entire score to their collection, which is vast in terms of Thomas Newman, but no Desperately Seeking Susan! I did enjoy reading your post about this movie, and as a huge Bruce Willis when he was David Addison fan (not to mention Duckie Dale from Pretty in Pink) I was heartened to read it. Thank you for sharing. I just watched this movie again recently and you know, for the 80s, it was actually quite good!
Signed,
a 37 year old who lost track of time in her head

This movie definitely signaled the ascendence of Madonna. Literally over the course of one weekend, the girls in school went from jeans and Scorpions t-shirts to black lace over-tops, scrunchies and vinyl ring bracelets. And gum. Lots & lots of chewing gum.
