Never huge in their homeland, but big enough, their success never really translated into U.S. sales, though they did have four hits on the Hot 100. “New Girl Now” always seemed a bit ahead of its time for me, but “What Does It Take” is the one Suite single I think should have been a smash. It’s missing something, though — maybe a string section over the chorus? It should have been an epic mid-tempo sing-along, but it lacks the punch to be remembered with similar songs of the era. It’s pretty much the same deal with “Love Changes Everything.” It’s a good song, but it had the potential to be a great song, with just a little tweaking here or there. [...]

Is that Honeymoon Suite song in other '80s movies? It sounds so familiar. It's the type of song that always seemed to get played at the climax of bad teen movies.

Excellent! That Peter Allen track reminds me I need to transfer my It Is Time For Peter Allen vinyl to digital. I remember that Outa-Space track from when it first came on the radio, in the early 70's.

I have never seen this movie. Guess I'll put it in the Netflix queue. I did just watch The Grifters, though. I thought Cusack was good in the more recent film The Martian Child as well.

What a great soundtrack, Kelly! I haven't heard that Billy Preston song in years! (I have the 45 of it somewhere around here…) Why don't instrumentals get any respect nowadays??

The only thing I remember about this movie is that “Better Off Dead” was better.

Thanks for sharing these, I was a teenager through the 80s so these are either nice “blasts from the past” or “I don't remember that at all but sounds fun”
