Secretary is very good. But don't dismiss his performance in Stargate. It is subtle and gentle. I watched it again recently and loved what he did. His work on Boston Legal brought me back to him, and I decided to give him a new look. Stargate (which I pretty much disliked when it came out) is a decent movie, but only because of the performance of James Spader, and to a lesser degree, Kurt Russell. I liked “Secretary” when I saw it, but I don't remember much about it now except that there was something really creepy about Edward's law office.

One thing I find interesting about Spader — he won't shoot any movies that are going to film in the summer, because he likes to take summer vacation. That must be one reason why he agreed to do “The Practice” and “Boston Legal.”
