I'm with you on the January hate but let me tell you, one day you will miss steam heat. I mean if you're fortunate enough to move from your current apt to another place with radiators, then I'll stand corrected. Until you have to endure forced air heat, you'll hate January a litle less than I do.

My grandfather died in January last year, his sister died in January '05, and their mother died in January 1966. I really do think there are many examples to support January being the first month of the year simply so we can get it over with and move on. I hope February is much better for you, Dw.

I forgot to mention January movies! Thank you, David. Even though studios are trying to put out event movies like “Cloverfield” in January now to capitalize on MLK Day weekend, January is still mostly reserved for crap left over from the previous year. When I saw back in '06 that “Rocky Balboa” was coming out that December I thought, MGM must have some faith in it. When I saw late last year that Lionsgate was releasing “Rambo” in January, I figured it must not be very good. But it has gotten better reviews than I would've imagined. Hmm … I'm not supporting my argument very well.

I review movies, so of course I hate January. I had to sit through “Mad Money,” “Untraceable” and “Over Her Dead Body” this year, and “Code Name: The Cleaner” and “Happily N'Ever After” last year. January blows.
