When my daughter Sophie begins to explore music, I hope she’ll take a trip through the hundreds of LPs and CDs Julie and I have amassed over the years. When she comes across a certain single, I’m sure her mouth will gape slightly and those beautiful blue eyes of hers will roll as she says, “Seriously, Dad. Bryan Adams?” At that point, I will sit Sophie down to recount the night she was born and tell her just how Adams’ “(Everything I Do) I Do It for You” entered our record collection and took a place among the Basement Songs.
